Women’s feet have been called Lotus flowers and have inspired many poets to write about them because of their delicate beauty. Cute shoes don’t cover up ugly toes. One day you have to take those shoes off. Pedicures in warm weather are the best and most convenient method to keep feet soft and beautiful. There are certain things you can do to keep your toes happy all year long.
Soak your feet in lukewarm water for 5 to 10 minutes and soften the feet. Then use a pumice stone to remove dead skin. Clip and file your toe nails straight across to avoid ingrown toe nails. Moisturize your feet with a good lotion or petroleum jelly or foot cream and preferably sleep with loose cotton socks so that you can lock in the moisture. You should do this at least once per week. This will help repair damage caused by wearing open toe shoes in the summer. Apply nail polish if you so desire. This encourages healthy nail beds as well. Remember to touch up your toe nails often to keep them cute. Also, Exercising the feet at the end of the day also helps tired feet and strengthens foot muscles. See the article “My Aching Foot” for exercises to help revive tired achy feet.
Tired feet need care so that they look soft and supple again. After a long day wash and apply foot cream with a soothing massage. The foot cream may be medicinal and it can help in healing the cracks, dryness and smooth out rough skin. Tight shoes lead to corns and calluses. To de-stress, a warm water soak or foot massage gets the blood moving and one will get a peaceful and a restful sleep. Shoe bites also tires the feet. (This is the pinch you get when you buy new shoes.) Whenever you buy new shoes apply petroleum jelly or coconut oil on the inner side of the shoes for three consecutive days, and then you will escape shoe bites. Follow these simple steps and you will have healthy happy feet.
